Conferences / Workshops / Panel Discussions
  • One-day conference, Panchayat Mahila Shakti Abhiyan, where a charter of demands was drawn up and later submitted to the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, New Delhi.
  • Think Tank State Level Workshop on 24 May, 2006. Activists and scholars have come together to form a Think Tank in order to get women’s input into Government of India’s XIth Plan. The School hosted a day-long meeting of activists of the southern districts of West Bengal.
  • The School organised a panel discussion on Domestic Violence on 6 December, 2006. Panelists were Professor Jasodhara Bagchi, Professor Nirmala Banerjee, Sri Taj Mohammed and Sm. Rukmini Sen.
  • A public hearing for women with disabilities was held on 10 March, 2006 in collaboration with the HEPSN Cell (Higher Education for Persons with Special Needs ), Jadavpur University, with support from the National Commission for Women.
  • Eastern region seminar on Feminism and the Production of Knowledge in association with Indian Association of Women’s Studies and School of Women’s Studies on 5 and 6 February, 2007.
  • The School organised a two-day National Seminar entitled Women’s Histories, Women’s Narratives, a tribute to Lila Majumder, on 29 and 30 March, 2007.

Memorial Lectures
  • The School organised the 9th Shaheed Preetilata Wadeddar Memorial Lecture. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Tapati Sengupta entitled 'Through the Terrains of Radicalism : Saraladevi Chaudhurani to Preetilata 'Wadeddar on 9 April, 2007.
  • The School organised the 8th Sukhalata Rao Endowment Lecture on 13 April 2007. The lecture was delivered by Professor Sibaji Bandyopadhayay, senior fellow, Centre for Studies in Social Sciences Calcutta, entitled 'The Girl Child in Bangla Children’s Literature'.

Networking (Recent few)
  • The School from its very inception has been continuously networking with the academic community of the University. Members of different Committees of the School like Academic Committee are actively involved with the activities of the School. Members from faculties of Arts, Science and Engineering and Technology are in continuous touch with the School.
  • Networked with Universities like Vidyasagar University; Medinipur University of Calcutta, SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai; Utkal University, Bhubaneswar; Gauhati University, Assam; and Delhi University.
  • Participated in the regional workshop on Sexual Harassment Bill organised by Women Power Connect 3-4 November, 2006

  • Participated in the National Level Consultation on Gendering the XIth Five Year Plan, New Delhi, June 15-17, 2006.
  • The School of Women’s Studies, in collaboration with Women’s Studies Research Centre, University of Calcutta and British Council, organised a seminar entitled Women’s Studies Network Seminar.
  • Participated in a Workshop on Feminist Pegagogy organised by Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi on 14 and 15 March, 2007.
