Two-year M Phil Course

The M Phil course in Women’s Studies started in 2000 and the eighth batch is running succesfully with a new syllabus. The School of Women’s Studies under the Faculty of Arts, Jadavpur University, runs the course with maximum of 15 students per year. Masters' degree in any discipline with a minimum 55% marks is required. Admission is done through written and oral examinations.

The course is interdisciplinary in nature and students of medical science, science, technology and commerce are also admitted to the course. As part of its effort to develop curriculum in Women’s Studies, the School has taken up redesigning of syllabus to incorporate women’s studies courses interfacing the mainstream disciplines. Semester system was introduced in 2007.
