FACULTY OF
ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY---Metallurgical Engineering
The department. of Metallurgical Engineering was established in
1956 with the purpose of imparting excellent training to students
who would be able to join several industries as qualified engineers,
dealing with the production and processing of metals and alloys including
foundries, rolling mills and fabrication shops. The focus of post
graduate degree is mainly fixed to train qualified metallurgical engineers
for state of art technologies at different Indian metallurgical industries

Attainments at National Level
The Department has received grants from CSIR, MHRD, AICTE, DST,
ARDB, DAE and Department of Cultural , WB Science & Technology for
different projects of national importance. The department extended
its expertise to organizations in the form of testing consultancy,
and HRD Programmes. Notable among them are CMWSA, SIST, ESAB India
Ltd. GPIL, Hind Motors.
An industry relevant open house discussion on "Emerging Steel Technology"
was organised in 1998 where a senior scientist from Pench Steel Corporation
U.S.A. interacted with senior personnel from top steel producers and
consultants of India.

Association (JUMetal)
JUMetal was formed in June 2004 with the
primary aim of bringing the worldwide alumni of JU metallurgy closer
to the department.
Please keep visiting
this page for the activity calendar.
The present working committee of the JUMetal
comprises of seven members. It has been decided that the committee
weill be nominated every two years.
Executive Committee 2004-06

Actively participating
in the operations and governance of the JUMetal is a wonderful way
for our alumni to give something back to their alma mater and to
re-connect with the department. Please contact us at alumni@jumetal.org, if you would like to take a more active role in the
association.
We welcome all our alumni to register
themselves and help us in building an alumni database. Please click
