Centres - CENTRE FOR
SURFACE SCIENCE
Profile of the Centre
The Centre for Surface Science was set up in the Department of
Chemistry in the year 1992. In September the same year, the Centre
commenced operations with a national conference on 'Science and
Technology of Self-Organising Systems with Special Reference to
New Generation Surfactants'. It subsequently undertook a major DST
project (details below) that has just been completed, as well as
other projects and consultancy work. It is in process of negotiating
for new projects.
Academic and administrative Structure
The Centre is run by an Academic and administrative Committee chaired
by the Vice-Chancellor and with three external members (currently
from Calcutta University, Kalyani University and the Indian Association
for Cultivation of Science) in addition to active participants from
among the Jadavpur faculty.
