CENTRE FOR AMBEDKAR STUDIES

The Centre for Ambedkar Studies has a twin purpose: to examine the life, works and thought of Babasaheb Ambedkar; and, from that starting-point, to study and document the state of the dalits and other depressed and deprived sections of the nation. This study relates to both social practice and social theory, and is directed towards affirmative action. The ultimate aim is to sensitise the community as regards questions of social justice.

In the first year of its life, the Centre has hosted a national seminar and a lecture, and taken four research projects in hand (see below). It has also purchased the first instalment of books for its library.
