Academic contribution in last five years

Professor Sobha Chattopadhyay served as Head of the Department of English from 2001 to 2003. Her specialty is nineteenth and twentieth century literature. She visited the University of Antwerp, Belgium, in April 2000 to speak at an international seminar on Convergences and Interferences: Newness in Intercultural Practices. She directed the DSA international seminar headed The Many Worlds of Twentieth Century Literature in March 1999 and is now editing the proceedings for publication by Papyrus. She has contributed an article to Thamyris: Intersecting Place, Sex, Race (Rodopi, 2001). She spoke at a National Seminar on Aldous Huxley and Indian Thought at Osmania University, Hyderabad in January 1999. She has contributed articles to books such as Thomas Hardy: A Critical Spectrum, V.S. Naipaul and Indian Writing in English. She is the Coordinator of the Jadavpur University Society for American Studies (JUSAS).
