Academic contribution in last five years

Professor Sajni Mukherji edited the Department's festschrift for Professor Jasodhara Bagchi, Literature and Gender, together with Professor Supriya Chaudhuri (Orient Longman, Delhi, 2002). She also directed the DSA National Seminar on Re-Locating the Victorians held in March 2002. The Department owes her a debt of gratitude for her dedicated work for the preparation of text and study material on Braille, as well as audio cassettes, for the use of visually impaired students of the Department. The material generated is housed in a separate section of the English Departmental Library. The initial project, with technical assistance from the Satyen Bose Centre for Research in Basic Sciences is now complete, and Professor Mukherji is now collaborating in the University's project under the HEPSE/TEPSE scheme to provide aids to the handicapped. Professor Mukherji directed a Departmental Refresher Course in 1998 and spoke at a National Seminar on Women and Literature at the University of Delhi in December 2000. She is a member of the Jadavpur University Court.
