Faculty of Engineering & Technology - Computer Science & Engineering

Center for Mobile Computing & Communication

Its  Mission is to do enabling research on cutting edge technology in Mobile and Wearable computing and communication. This includes the following tasks:

  • To create and develop a University-wide, general-purpose, all-pervasive computing and communication environment using front-end technologies powered by wireless mobile access technique at the last hop

  • To develop a University-wide distributed virtual laboratory and a high-performance test-bed for collaborative research in IT and emerging technologies in computing and communication.

  • To identify, use and develop available hardware devices, sensors & transducers, systems software and components for building cost-effective, context-appropriate mobile and wearable computing & communication systems for deployment in real-life applications.

  • To build and deploy disaster management IT systems that can be rapidly set up for quick dissemination of available information and run in cases of emergencies in the face of little available infrastructural support.

  • To offer new courses and research programs on emerging technologies in mobile computing and communications at the PG, doctoral and post-doctoral levels utilizing this infrastructure.

  • To promote comprehensive and interdisciplinary research in the application of Mobile and Wearable devices / systems in socially relevant programs such as spread of education, alleviation of poverty, providing health care, agricultural support system, etc.

  • To foster the growth of collaborative R&D with industry and other institutes – both national and international – in the field of mobile computing and communication for transfer of know-how to industry with appropriate IPR protection and implementation of target-oriented projects for industry and other sectors.

Our Vision is that information can be accessed and interchanged through proper technological means when, where and how it is needed by persons/ artifacts possessing the appropriate authority for such access.

  • It Informs you everything relevant for a specific requirement such as admission, study, examination and evaluation, laboratories, projects and research, library, administration, etc. in a University environment or pictures, sound, environmental condition, threat assessment, etc. in Disaster management.

  • It is for you for any time of the day and night,7 days a week and 365 days a year…

  •  You can get it both away from the desktop and at the desktop, either from the office or home or when the person is in the field or on the move …

  •  You can easily connect with it by traditional, mobile and wearable devices. Information interchange needs to be natural, easy to use and truly supportive of the task in hand.

  •  It is maintained by persons / machines in a transparent manner without compromising security (and official secrecy).

  •  Our aim is to attain world-class R&D standards with a view to solving indigenous problems for the greater benefit of the society.

Our Projects are controlled by these departments:
