Academic Session and Vaccation

The Academic Session of the Faculties is as follows:

• For all undergraduate courses : 1 July to 30 June next

• For all postgraduate courses : 1 August to 31 July next

Only for the Faculties of Engineering and Technology and of Science at the undergraduate level, the session is divided into two Semesters

• First Semester : 1 July to 30 November

• Second Semester : 1 December to 30 June next

The vacations are as follows:

• Summer Vacation: normally May and June, adjustable according to the demands of the teaching schedule in any Faculty

• Puja Vacation: normally from Shasthi to Bhratridwitiya, both days inclusive

Working Hours

The offices of the University are open from 10-20 a.m. to 5-15 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

All enquiries should be made between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Mondays to Fridays.

University is closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Cash Hours

The University's Cash Section remains open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. For students of evening courses, the Section remains open between 5-15 p.m. and 7-15 p.m. from Mondays to Fridays only.

Sales Hours

The Sales Counter of the Information Office remains open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 2-30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

Sale of Publications

University publications, together with publications of National Council
of Education, Bengal and the Hirendra Nath Datta Foundation may be purchased from' Jatiya Siksha Granthalok', National Council of Educaiton, Bengal, Kolkata- 700 032 (beside gate no.4 of the University campus) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, (Phone: 472-0682).

Class Hours

Classes commence at 10-20 a.m. The duration of each class period is 50 minutes up to 3 p.m. and 45 minutes thereafter, terminating at 5-15 p.m. Evening classes are held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., each class period consisting of 45 minutes.

Recess

The recess period for students is 1-40 p.m. to 2-10 p.m. For office staff it is 2 p.m. to 2-30 p.m.
